Previously, I'd be cutting it at the 3" setting, this year I'm all about the 4-4.5" setting, while letting the grass grow longer in between cuts. This year compared to years passed, I'm letting my grass grow longer and not cutting it as short in between. My blades need sharpened, this I know! :laugh:Īnyway, Compared to just letting it side discharge thru an open chute, the amount of clumps and the size of the windrows, is night and day. More time under my belt with this chute blocker. Noone cares, but i'll keep updating anyway. Should help keep more clippings from flying out wildly. I think I would make it the same width front to rear, on the next one. It allowed a bit too many clippings to flow under the blocker. It's shallower up front, than it is to the rear, so I made the blocker tapered to this angle. Something I won't do if I make a permanent blocker, is follow the contour of the deck. However, I will say the amount of clumping was very minimal considering the moisture and length of grass. To be honest, I was cutting 6" tall grass right down to 3-1/2", so some clumping is going to be expected. But, I think it will be better if the grass is shorter and dryer. Like most have said, it will leave a small windrow of grass here and there. Figure I'd make one temporary and easy before I commit to a fully welded blocker. Broke out the heat gun and it's super easy to form it to shape. Made one today out of a sheet of 1/8" Kydex that I had. Even if you don't get the FULL benefit of a mulching kit, there has to be some benefit to it. Also this would save a bunch of time mowing over the life of the setup, simply because you can mow however you want, no more setup to mow to the left anymore.

One video I watched, had the most compelling argument, even over the mulching effect, IMO, and that was that once the plate is installed, now you are not forced to make left hand passes around obstacles anymore, for fear of discharging into it (flower bed, garden, vehicle, windows etc. Seems like an easy enough DIY project to tackle. This was done on a 2012 veloster with 120k miles.Ordered all new gauge wheels for my deck (old ones looking a bit raggidy), and I got to looking around, and pricing the mulch kit for it as well. any input or questions, please ask as this is my first tutorial.

I know many can change a spark plug, but some may have not. to make it easy disconnect this plug, reattach once done The driver-side-most plug will be hard to get to. Put coil back on and tighten 10mm bolt until snug. then use ratchet to tighten another 1/4-1/2 a turn to seat gasket. then HAND TIGHTEN(this avoids cross threadding) until it stops.

Put plug into the socket and put back down spark plug hole. Take new plug and add a little anti-seize to threads, - Optional only needed for other brands, NGK plugs don't need anti-seize Use ratchet,plug socket, and extension to remove old plugs Then grab coil and pull up(mine was very warm as i just drove car) Use 10mm socket to remove bolts that hold the coils on Put like this and slightly twist to increase gap BE CAREFUL ABOUT DAMAGING THE FINE WIRE ON PLUG. Think about it, those plug boxes are being thrown around, dropped, messed with. platinum and copper will work but dont expect to get 100k miles out of them. stock plugs are NGK IR SILZKr68(mine were) i would go with iridium as they will last longer. i would have chosen ngk if i had a cross referance.

When i wrote this, i could not find very many options for plugs. Get a socket with the rubber inside to hold plug. To start, you need a 10mm socket, 5/8" spark plug socket, an extension, a ratchet, anti-sieze, spark plug gap tool, and of course spark plugs.

the engine can be hot if you just drove it. The usual disclaimer, i'm not responsible for any problems or wrongful installation. i will put in the gap specs later as i remember or get them. So i have been wanting to make a diy for awhile now.
